Late June brief summary

So, it's been a while since I have made an entry into the blog. I have moved to my new apartment in the Neve Zedek area and I don't have internet access at home, yet. Therefore, I have to get in this entry before my battery dies. The apartment is a studio with the bed 6 feet high in a loft. It seems bigger than the 375 square feet or so that it is as you can use the space under the bed. I love the area as it has a village feel to it but is surrounded by huge buildings and sky scrapers such as Shalom Tower. A few chickens escaped from a neighbor and decided to live under a broken down bus in front of my house for a few days. I awakened early to the crowing of the rooster. Also, the area is run by gangs of feuding cats. They have tried to reach into my kitchen through the bars to get at food. I have to keep the window shut. The place has good energy and I'm happy there. I was pretty angry at my last landlord as I spent the last three weeks there without air conditioning. My new one is great and I believe we will become good friends. He is my age and is into adventure sports. I am grateful to him as he has given me a lot of furniture and dishes at no charge.

I eat healthier than I ever have in my life. I also eat only kosher food since I'm in Israel. Believe it or not, Tel Aviv is so secular that it's hard to find kosher restaurants. For me, kosher just means no milk and meat, no pork, and no shellfish. It is easy to be a vegetarian here as well as vegetables are often served as the main course. They are the best I can remember eating.

I have returned to Sderot to help recruit retailers to come to a fair in Tel Aviv that is especially for the merchants of Sderot. Since there are scarcely 10,000 people of the original 24,000, there are few customers at some to whom they can sell.

I am leaving for Turkey, tomorrow, for about 1o days. The plan is to go to Istanbul for a few days and then head to the countryside for some hiking and exploring small villages. I'm going with an Israeli woman that I've been seeing. Her name is Einat. I may stay after the week and meet an Israeli guy named, Dan, with whom I have been kite-surfing. I'll write after the trip.
